From the Managing Editor

Welcome to the last issue of the 2005 season. A lot has happened since the last issue - namely Hurricane Katrina and most recently, Rita. Though Florida, where the journal is based, is no stranger to devastation, the human toll and literal loss of cities is hard to fathom. In Florida, we are seeing many of the families uprooted by Katrina. NSU is providing medical services through a team from the Health Professions Division on site in Mississippi and through clinics in Florida (see special feature).

What can you do to help? Contribute money to organizations such as the Red Cross. Donate new clothes to these individuals who have lost everything. Send toys and books to the kids just looking for some normalcy in their lives. This is truly a time in our history that will be remembered and talked about for generations. I would hope that those memories include the generosity and caring of a nation of citizens reaching out to those in need.
