Inaugural Health Professions Educational Research Symposium, Ft Lauderdale, Florida
Nova Southeastern University’s Institute for Educational Research in the Health Professions is pleased to announce our inaugural research conference, the Health Professions Educational Research Symposium (HPERS). The conference is scheduled for January 12-14, 2007, at Nova Southeastern University’s Health Professions Division. Located on a beautiful 300-acre campus in Fort Lauderdale, NSU has more than 25,000 students and is the largest independent institution of higher education in Florida. Fort Lauderdale, known for its near-idyllic climate, merges with the Atlantic for 23 miles of palm-fringed Florida shoreline. Fort Lauderdale offers a wide variety of things to see and do, appealing to guests from around the world
We have an exciting conference planned with the theme of "Educational Research and the Scholarship of Teaching in the Health Professions.” Building on the work of the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, we seek to support the development of educational research and the scholarship of teaching and learning that: 1) fosters significant, long-lasting learning for all students within the health professions; 2) enhances the practice and profession of teaching within the health professions; and 3) brings recognition and reward to scholarly work about teaching and educational research.
The conference includes a variety of engaging learning activities, including dynamic keynote speakers, research presentations, workshops, poster presentations, and informal round table discussions. We encourage faculty to review our Call for Abstracts and Proposals for this exciting conference: www.nova.edu/hpers.
