Short Description
This presentation will help all educators, but especially K-12 educators, to integrate concepts and strategies of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) into online distance education environments. Online resources will also be provided that educators can refer to and utilize in their classes.
Abstract
This presentation will cover the basic premise behind Social Emotional Learning (SEL), why this is important in all learning environments, and how to infuse this type of learning into online distance education formats. Helpful online resources will also be provided. The presentation is primarily for educators in grades K-12 but many of the concepts can also be applied to higher education. The goal of this presentation is to help all educators provide the best learning environment for their students within a distance education setting. Research has shown that when students social and emotional well-being are taken into account, they are more motivated and excited to learn and are also more successful academically. Educators are sometimes not aware of this crucial component of student learning but with minimal training can be much more prepared to manage these issues. This presentation can give educators these basic tools to get started in creating a cohesive and collaborating learning environment.
