Abstract
As an artistic movement, Dadaism rose out of the horrors of the Great War (1914-18) as people tried to make sense out of the conflict’s senselessness (Richter, 1965/2007). Much as they wrestled with their horrific experiences, we turn to Dadaism to wrestle with our experiences as newly-minted and almost-minted PhDs. However, rather than finding answers, we have only been able to make meaninglessness out of meaninglessness, leading to the crises of identity (Gill, 1998) we explore here.
