Abstract
The research proposal “Finding and Fostering Hope in Violent Times” is basically an attempt to study the linkages between various aspects of global peace which in turn would reduce violent conflict thereby finding and fostering hope in violent times in this global era. The study focuses and dwelves into the aspect of studying the role of peace in resolving conflicts, the key aspects/parameters/indicators that would result in attaining peace thereby reducing violent conflicts. The issues on non-violent resistance, peace education, human rights, education, role of information and communication technologies, trade facilitation, peace, human security and human rights, UN SDGs in recognizing important role of security for development such as linkages between SDG-16 and human rights, role of UN Human Rights Council in achieving global peace, role of young people in attaining a culture of peace, networks for peace, rescuing the liberal international order and EU security policy to attain peace and reduce conflicts, new agenda for peace advocated by the United Nations, and action to be undertaken in this regard have been studied at length. There has been a study of review of literature on the topic, research questions posited and answered in the light of attainment of global peace and in reducing violent conflicts and the factors accounting for attainment of global peace have also been delineated in the study. Finally, the conclusion of the study and the proposed action to be undertaken have also been brought out in the research study. It is concluded that world peace could be attained through proper and adequate education systems in place, trade and ICT would go a long-way in promoting economic interdependence amongst nations thereby fostering hope in violent times and in attainment of global peace.
