Proposal Description

The concept of violent conflict has since been in existence long and worldwide and is a global phenomenon. Various countries in the world have been reeling under this crisis of violent conflict which is the result of the atrocities, violent attitude amongst the people in various countries, particularly the LDCs and the African countries where these have been in existence since long and have been more or less become a part and parcel of the human existence in these countries. In fact, various reasons could be accounted for this. Countries such as Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Columbia, Ethiopia and the MENA countries amongst others have resorted to civil and criminal warfare due to excessive conflict arising in these countries. This has resulted in reducing the peace in these societies in the long run. The approach would therefore be of developing a peace building attitude and consensus amongst these societies leading to reduction in warfare and complete elimination of conflict and violence. However, achievement of this development is a long-drawn process and is also a time-consuming affair. In order to address these broader issues at sub-national, regional and national level of these countries and in order to achieve the overarching goals and objectives of United Nations SDGs and in particular the SDG-16 on ‘Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions’, an institutional mechanism could be put in place to drive these countries towards achieving SDG-16.
