Abstract

This presentation explores Canva as a versatile and accessible design platform that enhances teaching, scholarship, and professional communication through visual literacy. Siregar, Haswati, and Purbaningrum (2024) emphasize that Canva promotes dynamic learning experiences and empowers educators to adapt to evolving technology. In today’s academic and professional environments, the ability to present information visually is a critical skill for engagement, comprehension, and knowledge dissemination. Drawing on Sugiarni, Widiastuti, and Tahrun (2024), this presentation highlights Canva’s transformative potential in teaching and learning, emphasizing its role in improving student motivation, confidence, and understanding of course content. Canva offers an intuitive, low-barrier platform for educators, researchers, and professionals to create polished, high-quality materials without requiring advanced design expertise. This session situates Canva’s use within the broader discourse of digital literacy and visual pedagogy, demonstrating its value as a bridge between traditional instruction and interactive, learner-centered approaches. Participants will explore Canva’s core features, including customizable templates, brand kits, and collaboration tools, through a live demonstration and practical examples. The presentation also addresses implementation challenges, such as equitable access to technology, and highlights professional development as essential to fully leveraging Canva’s potential in academic settings (Sugiarni et al., 2024; Siregar et al., 2024). This session presents Canva as a pedagogical resource that helps educators and students communicate ideas effectively, adapt to digital trends, and co-create knowledge. Participants will gain strategies to integrate Canva into teaching, research, and professional practice to strengthen visual communication, engagement, and accessibility in diverse educational contexts.
