Short Description

An understanding of research methods is critical for students in graduate online education. More specifically, both students and faculty often demonstrate a lack of understanding on how to conduct basic statistical tests. In order to simplify this complex area of academia, more hands-on, basic tools and instructional techniques are warranted. There are many wonderful and even enjoyable resources available online and this presentation will share some of the best available online tools and resources.

Abstract

This presentation will provide basic tools and resources, which greatly simplify the research process. Students in distance education are typically isolated and suffer from a lack of technical skills necessary to run statistical tests. The aim of this discussion will highlight these challenges and offer strategies and solutions to alleviate student issues when conducting data analysis. In addition, faculty advising students at a distance can also benefit from learning about these useful and practical materials.
