Short Description

Florida Abolitionist is an organization to bring awareness and to prevent human trafficking. This project will help the Florida Abolitionist organization to bring awareness through online training. Currently, several colleagues including myself are building an online training program for all distance learners to bring awareness about the current situation about human trafficking. Currently, there is a lack of comprehensive online platforms for training. This project will be implementing e-Learning solutions and developing supporting materials to have comprehensive training for all types of companies. Through this conference, we will be able to have the opportunity to share ideas, learn about how this topic and area can relate to distance learning programs and products and gain a better understanding of the field. Through this instructional design project, it will be possible to spread the word in this growing community of online learning.

Abstract

This Florida Abolitionist training design project will be presented in a presentation format whether it is a snapshot or concurrent presentation. The presenters will be discussing about the audience, learning objectives, learning content, media & branding, delivery method, delivery platforms, the timing of training, information about the development team, legal and other concerns of this online training program regarding the human trafficking issues. The presenters will also show how this online training will be developed using the Intrepid online platform from the company, Rite-Solutions Inc. Intrepid is a platform similar to Canvas where online course designers can build their own modules and online content for educational training. The title of the training will be called “Human Trafficking 101” for the general public. The presenters will show about how the learners will know how to define human trafficking, build awareness of the drivers for human trafficking, recognize human trafficking, know what local and national human trafficking resources can do for victims, and respond confidently when human trafficking is suspected. The presenters will present the 3 main modules and how it was developed in the Intrepid platform including, what is human trafficking, impacts of human trafficking, what the public can do about it. In each module, there will be topics and each topic will have specific contents included. The presenters will show what kind of instructional strategies will be implemented for the online training. Also, we will present the functions of the online platform. The presenters will cover on how they approached this project with instructional design theories and how it applied into practice as a soon-to-be live online training program. Through this project, it can be connected with the conference theme as it can be considered as an example and application of distance learning that is implementing instructional design strategies in a real-life context.
