  • Christina Mattioli, Customer Consultant with Elsevier: In this role, Christina focuses on working with her academic and government library contacts in the United States and Canada to optimize their experience with Scopus & ScienceDirect. Prior to joining Elsevier, Christina worked with numerous colleges and universities in the US and Canada in the Advancement and Enrollment management arenas. Christina has a passion for the support and advancement of education and science and has enjoyed taking her experiences further supporting her librarian colleagues to further this mission.
  • David Kerstetter, Associate Professor, Halmos College of Arts and Sciences: David Kerstetter, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences and the Director of the Fisheries and Avian Ecology Lab at the NSU Oceanographic Center campus. He has mentored over 40 Masters students and has 55 peer-reviewed scientific publications, as well as over $5 m in external research funding. Dr. Kerstetter teaches undergraduate, graduate, and Honors College courses, including Biology of Fishes, Invasive Species Ecology and Management, and Coastal Resource Management. Current Lab research includes fisheries bycatch reduction, life-history parameters of coastal fishes and stingrays, and seabird trophic ecology.
  • Amanda Furiasse, Assistant Professor, Halmos College of Arts and Sciences: Amanda Furiasse, PhD, is Assistant Professor of digital humanities in the Department of Humanities and Politics at Nova Southeastern University. She is currently the senior producer of Florida 2100: Tales of Tomorrow, a multimedia project that explores pressing ethical challenges from the perspective of the future, and host of the Department of Humanities and Politics' Applied Humanities Podcast. She has published numerous articles, including in the Journals for the American Academy of Religion, Africana Religions, Cultural Analytics, and Museums & Social Issues. She was the co-Director of the Contagion, Religion, and Cities Project at the Center for the Study of Religion and the City at Morgan State University, senior producer and co-host of the Political Theology Network’s Assembly podcast, and public fellow at Sacred Writes: Public Scholarship on Religion.
  • Robert Smith, Associate Professor and Research Scientist, Cell Therapy Institute and Kiran Patel College of Allopathic Medicine: After completing his Bachelor's degree in Biology and Biotechnology from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Robert worked with Dr. Myron L Smith to study nonself recognition in the model fungus Neurospora crassa. He graduated with a PhD in Biology from Carleton University. During his PhD, he was an Ontario Graduate Scholar, supported by NSERC and was named as a Young Ambassador of Science. Shortly thereafter, he joined a group at Duke University as a post doc, where he used a combination of systems and synthetic biology to study antibiotic resistance and bacterial cooperation. He was also named a Duke Scholar in Infectious Disease in 2011-2012. In 2012, he joined Nova Southeastern University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. In 2022, he joined the Cell Therapy Institute in the Kiran Patel College of Allopathic Medicine at NSU where he continues to perform research. He has worked with numerous undergraduate and graduate students to help them complete research and launch careers both inside and outside of academia. He is proud of the accomplishments of his students; the vast majority have either won awards for their work and/or have published their findings.
  • Kristina Heubish, Business Analyst - Elsevier: Dr. Kristina Heubish currently works as a Business Analyst for Elsevier. She received her PhD in Science Education from Columbia University, publishing in natural philosophy and cognitive learning. She is an active member of the Association for Science Teacher Education. Dr Heubish transitioned from academia to publishing about 5 years ago, now focusing on transformative agreements to drive the Open science movement. She is passionate about educating authors on the journals publishing process and how to fruitfully contribute to the scientific record.
