Description
Barcelo is an award-winning international Cuban artist. He is known as a Surrealist and his works advance the movement into the 21st century while maintaining a strong influence of psychology, particularly the unconscious, and what he described as “pictorial mysticism.” He drew comparisons to Salvador Dalí early in his career and has been covered in media including Art News, the Miami Herald, el Diario Yucatán, Caribbean Today as well as included in magazines and the Contemporary Latin American Artist Dictionary.
The subject of eight solo exhibitions, Barcelo has exhibited his work in several leading art markets including New York, Miami, and Coral Gables as well as internationally in Mexico and Cuba where he has also been commissioned to produce public art. His work has been featured in several museums including the Florida Latin American Museum Of Art, the Museo Nacional De Bellas Artes (National Museum of Fine Arts) of Cuba, and is in the permanent collection of the Wilzig Museum.
