Brief Bio / Description of Interviewee

Hello, my name is Stacie. I am a C.H.P.P. student, so Certificate for Health Professional Preparation. I'm originally from Pennsylvania. I moved here when I was about 14, so I started my freshman year here in Florida. In high school, I was a varsity athlete all four years, played volleyball, basketball and softball. I went to Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. It was a smaller school then. It was a Division two school, but it was a really great experience. I majored in athletic training, so I have a sports medicine background. I then did my doctor in physical therapy at University of Saint Augustine. Once I graduated from my bachelor’s program, I took a JV position in sports medicine. I was a Division I athletic trainer for football. So I worked with that for a while and then I actually got sick during that time. I was diagnosed with cancer and I had to drop out of my masters program. I spent my 20s having to deal with cancer. Medicine was always in the plan. I just had a little bit of a hiccup in my 20s. Because I did sports medicine, I was able to transition right into a physical therapy program. I actually got my doctorate in physical therapy. I graduated when I was 30 and I've spent the last six years working as a pediatric physical therapist.
