Mark Cavanaugh is the Founder of NSU's Festival Orchestra. He has been the conductor since 1989 at all university commencements. It features works of various composers such as Strauss, Elgar, Walton, Bach, Marquez, Handel, John Williams, Siegfried Karg-Elert, Clifton Williams, Alfred Reed, and others.
