Executive Summary
A Strategic Research Project to Update Outdated Facilities Utilizing Community Partners. Charlotte Osborn, 2024: Strategic Research Project, Nova Southeastern University, Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice. Keywords: Sponsorship, Partnerships, Ambassador, STEAM, Limited Liability Corporation This strategic research project was designed to provide Innovation Academy with information regarding its organizational structure with outdated facilities. The project revealed the need to update outdated facilities while recognizing there are limited funds within the organization. A strengths-weaknesses-opportunities-threats analysis was completed and a comprehensive literature review of possible solutions with limited funds. This process conducted yielded 40 factors of 10 strengths, 10 weaknesses, 10 opportunities, and 10 threats, representing a thorough examination of the internal and external factors. This narrowed the factors from 40 to one that would identify the main problem of the organization, which was outdated facilities. There were four identified solutions considered to the problem of outdated facilities. The solutions identified possible ways to raise money that were outside of the organization. The four solutions identified were (a) develop a limited liability corporation, (b) community partner involvement, (c) develop a winning athletic program and (d) market athletic events. Solution two, community partner involvement, proved to be the most reasonable solution. Through research and utilizing the Quantitative Strategic Plan Matrix, the two strategies identified were a marketing plan and sponsorship through partnerships. Developing a marketing plan scored a value of 5.38, while sponsorship through partnerships scored a 5.87 value. This strategy scored higher and proved to be the most impactful when put in place. The action plan that emerged would create a team at the building level, as well as stakeholders and parents. This team would network and discover potential community partners who would be willing to sponsor Innovation Academy. The results of this research are promising and could benefit the organization greatly if implemented. A recommendation would be to incorporate both strategies. In addition to community partners, marketing athletic events would also be beneficial for growing funds at Innovation Academy.
