Abstract
The problem under investigation was that it is unknown what are the perceived needs for professional development of credentialed ministers of the Assemblies of God in Australia, Victoria. The purpose of the study was to develop a survey instrument to measure what are those perceived needs. The research question was, "What should be contained in a needs assessment survey to identify the perceived needs for professional development of credentialed ministers of the Assemblies of God in Australia, Victoria?"
A literature review was conducted to identify the competencies required by credentialed ministers to develop in their ministry function. The findings of this literature review
were submitted to a formative committee for review. The comments of the summative and formative committees were considered when the researcher developed the survey instrument. The final survey instrument can be found in appendix D of the report.
This study concluded that there was a significant diversity in the ministry function and educational background of the credentialed ministers of the Assemblies of God in Australia, Victoria. In addition, it was concluded that the survey instrument was valid for the purpose for which it was designed.
The major recommendations are as follows: the survey be administered to the credentialed ministers of the Assemblies of God in Australia, Victoria; and the survey data be evaluated and results be given in written form to the state executive of the Assemblies of God in Australia, Victoria, and the board of Harvest Bible College.
