Short Description

Is your faculty development plan developed over 10 years ago or just ramping up? Are your instructors just checking the boxes to get through your institutions training or nodding off during the class? How DO you get your faculty to want to go through the process, and not plod through the process? Join the University of Central Florida’s Instructional Design Faculty who coordinate and update the online faculty development course—IDL6543 Interactive Distributed Learning—a gold standard for online faculty development and training, in how to strengthen your own institution’s program.

Abstract

Current data suggests that a well-designed, on-going faculty development program is worth investing time and effort. In this session, you will learn how the Center for Distributed Learning at the University of Central Florida applied a scaffolding approach to promote faculty success, and gain the insight needed to improve your own institution’s faculty development plan.

For over 25 years, the training has grown as the university has grown, offering strategies that enrich student learning while fostering a culture on campus that adds value to the online teaching and learning initiative. Learn from our mistakes and successes, especially in recent years. Ask questions on how to be a cheerleader to your faculty, and not

Participants will receive a 5 point “Must Have” list for their faculty development initiatives along with free, open-source resources that include a templated faculty development plan.
