Dr. Leanne Boucher Completes a Highly Productive 2025 Sabbatical

Abstract

During the Winter 2025 sabbatical period, Dr. Leanne Boucher achieved an exceptional breadth of scholarly, mentoring, and community‑impact accomplishments. Over the course of her leave, she produced four peer‑reviewed publications covering topics in neuroscience education, exercise and cognition, semantic processing, and multiverse analytic methods. She additionally contributed to four more manuscripts, including one under review at Nature Reviews Psychology and several Stage 1 Registered Reports representing large‑scale international collaborations on prosociality, error correction, and gender bias in perceptions of political leadership. Dr. Boucher also extended her scholarly influence through two national conference presentations, each highlighting innovative approaches to student‑centered research and science communication. Her external engagement included submitting two substantial grant proposals focused on resilience-building in children and youth, totaling over $415,000 in potential funding. A dedicated mentor, Dr. Boucher supervised four undergraduate Honors theses, served on a graduate thesis committee, and guided two projects for the Undergraduate Student Symposium. Her sabbatical also generated new research momentum, with data collection initiated on projects spanning memory, creativity, exercise science, and resilience. Notably, her work with community partners reached over 120 adults and 500 children experiencing homelessness, delivering both research insights and resilience‑skills training.
