Abstract
Cellular and molecular technologies developed in human and mouse genetics have been applied to the domestic cat and have revealed many similarities and differences in genetic organization of these three mammalian species. The comparative genetic status of the feline genetic map, the major histocompatibility complex, endogenous retroviral families, proto-oncogene organization and Felidae evolution are reviewed here.
