Abstract
Between 2018 and 2022, faculty mentor and previous research partners conducted interviews and needbased assessments with transgender students at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) highlighting the need for greater awareness of university policies, procedures, and resources supporting the well-being of gender-diverse students. To address this, the research team collaborated to explore NSU's current policies on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), Title IX, protocols for names and pronouns, housing and bathroom accommodations, advocacy processes, and student organizations across these campus offices. These findings led to the creation of the NSU Resource Guide for Gender Diverse Students (work in progress), which offers step-by-step instructions to help college students navigate available resources and advocate for themselves within the university system. This project not only aims to empower gender-diverse students but also raises awareness among faculty, staff, and peer students. This presentation will provide an overview of the development of the resource guide by research evidence-based methods, including content chapters, actionable information, key facilitative steps, and the impact of fostering an inclusive campus environment. By addressing these areas, this project aims to empower gender-diverse students, enhance their university experience, and promote institutional accountability in supporting diversity and inclusion. At the end of this presentation, audience members can reflect on their role in creating change and are motivated to take action to support inclusion at NSU.
