Description
In our South Florida ocean, the NSU Guy Harvey Research Institute conducts more than 50+ shark tagging trips every year, directed by Dr.Derek Burkholder. These trips take the public out to see these magnificent species that call our ocean home. From these trips, we can continue to monitor the movements of these sharks and educate the public about the declining populations of many of our shark species in South Florida. No species in South Florida is more famous than the bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas). As the photographer on board this specific shark-tagging trip, I was able to bring up from the deep a 7- to 8-foot bull shark that had a bit of an attitude, leaving behind a small dent in the boats steel ladder.
