Description

This photo was taken on an NSU scuba crew dive at Vista Park in Fort Lauderdale. It is of a Flamingo Tongue Snail (Cyphoma gibbosum) eating away at a species of Sea Plume (Pseudopterogorgia americana). What was also interesting to see in this photo is the invasive Florida brittle star species, the six-arm brittle star (Ophiothela mirabilis), wrapped around the Sea Plume! This brittle star was first reported in January 2019.
