Abstract
Comatonia cristata (Hartlaub) is redescribed and illustrated on the basis of new and existing material. Well-developed pinnular combs, the only character relating this species to the Comasteridae, are modifications of rudimentary combs found in heliometrine antedonids. Comatonia agrees with all diagnostic characteristics of, and is here transferred to, the family Antedonidae, approaching most closely the heliometrine Anthometra adriani (Bell). Cirrus morphology may be convergent with sympatric Coccometra hagenii (Pourtales).
