In the 1960s, James M. Hartley, II, functioning as the university architect for Nova Southeastern University, did many architectural renderings and illustrations for the Board of Trustees.

These include a master plan, fully developing the university in its final stage, along with individual buildings and their composite interior and exterior designs. The three original buildings at Nova Southeastern University were the Mailman/Hollywood Building, Parker Building, and Rosenthal Building. While several of Hartley's designs were never built (notably the Oceanographic Center), they are included in this collection to display the range of work and the original vision of the university's founders.

While many of Hartley's original designs have not survived, the NSU Archives are pleased to be able to present this collection of his architectural illustrations created for the fledgling university. Sincere thanks goes to the family of James M. Hartley, II, for allowing the NSU Archives to make these renderings available online and share them with a wider audience.
