Dr. Richard E. Dodge is Dean of, and Professor at, the Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography (HCNSO). He is also Executive Director of the NSU Oceanographic Center's National Coral Reef Institute (NCRI). NCRI, funded through NOAA and other sources, is devoted to providing management based research focusing on monitoring, assessment, and restoration of coral reefs.
He has also held the following positions at NSU’s Oceanographic Center: Director and Associate Director of the Institute of Marine and Coastal Studies, Development Officer, Administrative Director, Associate Dean, and Executive Director. In addition to his teaching and administrative duties, he is the author of many publications and reports in scientific literature and for various agencies and companies. He has expertise on the effects of natural and man-induced impacts to coral reefs and has served as an expert witness on coral reef injuries. He is a recognized authority on corals and coral reef ecosystems.
