Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) was an American architect, interior designer, writer and educator, who designed more than 1,000 structures, 532 of which were completed. Wright believed in designing structures that were in harmony with humanity and the natural environment, a philosophy called organic architecture.
From the late 1950's to the early 2000's, Mr. Donald Zimmer, traveled the United States personally photographing remaining Frank Lloyd Wright structures. This collection, donated to the NSU Archives Department, is comprised of approximately 5,600 photographs spanning over 50 years. Mr. Zimmer returned to some structures repeatedly, photographing them over the course of many years and in various seasons. His collection is meticulously documented according to the accepted standard of cataloging Frank Lloyd Wright structures, the "Storrer System", and is organized in this database by the place where the structure exists.
