Abstract

The intent of this study is to find out what happens in the lives of intellectually gifted hard of hearing persons relative to their careers, psychological adjustments, educations, and general life circumstances. The individuals studied all had IQs of 130 or above and suffered the onset of hearing loss in childhood or early adulthood. As such, they represent a unique group, different in many respects from those whose hearing loss occurred in later years (Vemon & Andrews,1990).
