Brief Bio / Description of Interviewee
A lot of people when they travel go to resorts and go on these tourist excursions. I actually hate that. When I travel, I would rather live with the local community and speak their language. I feel like that’s really awesome. Like what can I learn from their culture that I can plant into my daily life. One of the lessons I’ve learned that was really really interesting was that American culture is so fixated on our job and profession. We tie that to our own identity. You know as a physician that’s who you are and that’s instilled into us. As a garbage man, that’s who you are. But that’s not the case. In almost every country that I've been to, whether they are developed or developing, your job is just your profession and just a means to an end. It’s not your entire identity.
