Abstract
On-line, Web-based communication-seen by many as the key technological innovation of the last decade of the 20th century-has attracted the attention of PA educators to the idea of distance education in a way that no earlier technology managed to do. With the explosive growth of technology, knowledge of how to best apply it (in designing and delivering instructional programs and in facilitating learner-instructor and learner learner interaction) lags far behind. In this article, the authors describe both obstacles and opportunities faced by those institutions offering distance education programs.
