Abstract
The author comments on the evidence indicating that there is a disconnection between the recommendations of many clinical practice guidelines and actual clinical practice. She presents considerations indicated in the American Urological Association (AUA) guidelines recommending that routine prostate cancer screening be limited and based on age, individual life expectancy and risk. She mentions the value of clinical practice based on sound evidence of effectiveness in nursing education.
