Abstract
The article presents audiology reimbursement issues relative with Medicare policy. It clarifies that audiologists can bill services rendered by technicians and not for the diagnostic services that the audiology assistants may provide. The services can be provided to the technicians using their Medicare Provider Transaction Access Number (PTAN). It cites the two diagnostic services that technicians can render under the supervision of a physician, such as tympanometry and vestibular function testing. It suggests that audiologists have to consult their Medicare intermediaries for interpretation to better understand the billing services.
