Description

The purpose of this study was to reevaluate the dominant influence of the theory of secularization in the management literature by exploring religious affiliation differences in the personal values of respondents. We used a large dataset drawn from a collection of 11 developed and emerging countries, and found significant cross-cultural religious affiliation differences among terminal and instrumental values of Catholics, Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists, and Hindus. Although personal values were differentiated by religious affiliations, there were also some similarities across the sample. Managerial implications are discussed.
