Description
The power of community collaboration is necessary and essential when promoting health equity, but it alone is not sufficient. Communities operate in the context of federal and state policies, regulations and allocation of resources – these government decisions affect our communities and well-being. It is critical that our communities be involved in building political will to shape the policies that impact them the most. For this reason we are hosting a webinar to discuss the election, changes in political leadership and the effects of repeal and replace of the Affordable Care Act on health equity.
Join us to learn about potential challenges and threats to provision 1557 of the ACA, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability in certain health programs and activities, as well as threats to the Prevention and Public Health Fund and other programs that support our most vulnerable populations. We will also look ahead to the 2018 election and emphasize the need for community mobilization to advance our work. Lastly, we will share health equity related activities that are taking place across the country and action steps for you to take in the months ahead. If you and/or your organization is working to achieve health equity at the local, state, regional and/or federal level and you want to know how the current political landscape impacts your work now and for the future this is the webinar for you!
