Abstract/Excerpt
Undergraduate student views on the severity of plagiarism were measured before and four years after the adoption of a signed certification of authorship policy to determine policy effectiveness. Students were asked to rate the severity of dishonesty for a series of potential plagiarism type offenses. Results indicate that after policy implementation, students rated three out of four plagiarism offenses as significantly more dishonest as students surveyed before policy implementation. Suggestions for adopting similar policies are provided.
