Having written extensively on the traditional attributes of college graduates, we will assume that readers are well versed on the issue. An educated person is one who has the foundational concepts and skills to master new tasks as they arise. In other words, a person who earned a college degree should have a valuable toolkit for being employed as the world of work evolves. There is, however, another post-secondary population, the focus of this editorial, for whom a two-year degree is now the ultimate objective. As will be enumerated below, the jobs traditionally done by high school graduates have largely disappeared or greatly diminished in numbers.
