Executive Summary
Strengthening Implementation of Product and Platform Updates Through Tiered and Differentiated Professional Learning: A Strategic Research Project: This strategic research project was designed to examine how HMH can strengthen the implementation of product and platform updates through targeted professional learning and strategic planning. HMH is a leading educational technology and curriculum company that provides instructional resources, professional learning, and integrated solutions to educators and school districts. A mixed-methods approach was used to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data were collected through strategic planning tools, including SWOT analysis, Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE), External Factor Evaluation (EFE), and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). Qualitative data were collected thought a review of scholarly literature and organizational information to examine implementation challenges and identify potential solutions. Findings identified organizational change as the primary weakness because frequent product and platform updates can affect implementation fidelity, educator engagement, and platform adoption.
Two solutions were explored: implementing phased rollouts and pairing updates with targeted professional learning. The research and strategic analysis identified pairing product and platform updates with targeted professional learning as the preferred solution. A tiered and differentiated professional learning strategy was selected because it provides varying levels of support based on partner readiness, experience, and implementation needs. Recommendations included conducting needs assessments, providing ongoing coaching, using implementation data to guide decision-making, and establishing continuous improvement processes to evaluation outcomes. If implemented, the proposed strategy has the potential to strengthen implementation fidelity, improve educator engagement, increase adoption of product and platform updates, and support more consistent implementation across educational settings.
