Executive Summary
This strategic research project was designed to provide insight into the importance of organizational culture within the tourism industry. The ability to be creative and express that creativity in the workplace is essential in education and entertainment to ensure employee satisfaction and retention. After identifying 10 strengths, 10 weaknesses, 10 opportunities and 10 threats, approaches to foster creativity in the workplace were explored. Four specific solutions were presented to improve education and entertainment in the park using various performing arts media. Puppetry was expanded upon and two strategies for implementation were presented. An action plan for spontaneous, smallgroup interaction was presented and recommendations and reflection on the project were discussed. In this project, I highlight the value of innovation and creativity in the workplace. I also discuss the impact of cultural heritage, authentic experience, and subjective vitality on tourists. In the action plan outlined, I proposed the incorporation of puppetry into existing events to enhance these factors within the park. In the action plan, I also addressed the need for unique performance styles and the value of creativity in employee satisfaction and retention. Insight gained from this project can be applied to the tourism industry to improve guest satisfaction and intent to return to the theme park.
