Executive Summary
This strategic research project was designed to address the issue of inadequate textbooks for adult learners seeking their high school equivalency, specifically focusing on the final challenge of integrating digital resources effectively. Many adult learners find traditional textbooks unengaging because of their dry content, irrelevant examples, and lack of accessibility. In addition, numerous adult learners struggle with the necessary digital literacy skills to effectively utilize online resources, which can impede their educational progress. Promoting digital literacy and technology skills is proposed as the solution. This approach empowers adult learners to navigate the digital landscape confidently, access high-quality online resources, and leverage technology to enhance their learning. The action plan outlines a four-pronged approach. By systematically addressing these four key areas, administrators can create a holistic approach to empower adult learners in the digital age. Through a needs-based curriculum, equipped educators, and readily available resources, educators can break down barriers to digital literacy, unlock the potential of digital resources in adult education, and ultimately pave the way for a more successful and engaging learning experience for all. This initiative emphasizes the importance of working together and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders. It recognizes the value of involving adult education programs, government agencies, technology providers, and community organizations. Ongoing assessment and enhancement of the proposed action plan are vital to ensure its effectiveness in promoting digital literacy and facilitating successful implementation of digital resources in adult education. Future research endeavors should focus on exploring inclusive approaches to integrating these resources, with a particular emphasis on catering to the diverse learning styles and needs of adult learners.
