Description

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A DISSERTATION THEORY?

Diffusion of Innovation Theory

Everett Rogers has provided thousands of researchers with an easily understood and well documented theory to guide them—Diffusion of Innovation Theory.

Diffusion of Innovation theory provides a roadmap for research on topics as diverse as:

  1. How to convince Iowa farmers to plant hybrid seed corn.
  2. Why some educators lag when innovations are introduced?
  3. How do I convince skeptical parents of the importance of school libraries?
  4. What is the role of the opinion leader when adopting Generative Artificial Intelligence.
  5. How to convince parents about the quality of virtual schools.

This short zoom session will-

  • Introduce the Theory
  • Review the five stages in the Innovation-Decision Process
  • Explain the attributes of Innovations
  • Identify the five categories of innovation adopters
  • Introduce two standardized measures –
    • The Innovativeness Scale
    • The Perceived Organization Innovative Scale
    • Present the Mosaic Metaphor

Everett Rogers' Diffusion of Innovation Theory provides a valuable framework for investigating how “new” ideas and technologies spread through populations. Its broad applicability is demonstrated by its use in diverse fields, ranging from agriculture (e.g., adoption of hybrid seed corn) to public health (e.g., promoting vaccinations) and education (e.g., integrating technology in the classroom).

This 30-minute zoom session will concentrate on Innovation Theory and dissertation research in Education.
