Abstract

An article in The Register-Guard (2009) reinforces the belief that college students are primed in grade school and high school to expect higher grades than they deserve. [...]2009, Oregon schools were ranked by the state's Department of Education into one of five categories ranging from "exceptional" to "unsatisfactory." According to Barndt (2001), "...it would not be good business to have students leave the college to seek friendlier grading."
