Description

Using ideas from dynamic systems theory and longitudinal data, we identify that poorer performing teams exhibit a pervasive pattern of inflexible, low-arousal interactions involving over-reliance on avoidant conflict management strategies. Such patterns predict excessive focus on team identity and consequently poorer task performance outcomes.
