Inductee Biography
Following high school where he became passionate about football & fishing Kaye attended the University of Florida and graduated from Miami University with a Business Degree. Kaye soon moved to Ft. Lauderdale and went on to become one of the areas most recognized entrepreneurs beginning with Pearson Potter Yacht Basin in 1971. He helped develop marinas internationally, partnered in local real estate & building investments and sat on several company boards including the International Game Fish Association, Facing It Together, and The Bank of Florida.
Kaye’s true legacy and commitment was as founder and CEO of Show Management in 1976, his promotion company that owned and or operated the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show, Palm Beach Boat Show and St Petersburg Boat Show, in addition to a host of other regional boat shows and special events. He sold the business in 2006 and has remained closely aligned to his successors. Kaye has received numerous awards in recognition for his vast accomplishments including the International Superyacht Society Leadership Award, the Fort Lauderdale Distinguished Citizen of the Year, is a member of the Nova University’s School of Business Hall of Fame and was most recently inducted into the Broward County Sports Hall of Fame.
Kaye was a true conservationist and avid fisherman and hunter. He won several fishing tournament championships aboard his vessel, “Showpiece”. Kaye owned the Bertram Hatteras Shootout, one of the world’s most prestigious Blue Marlin fishing tournaments where he implemented a strict release format. He was active in several charities and associations including the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County, International Game Fish Association, Fish Florida, Florida Ocean Science Institute and the Human Society of Broward County.
