Abstract

For readers new to the Journal of Instruction Delivery Systems, let me introduce myself. Since December 1994, I have been Professor, Computing Technology in Education (CTE) at the Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences (GSCIS) at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Most of my job responsibilities involve working with doctoral candidates. I began teaching in 1961, working with children in grades K – 8 and since 1977 have taught in post-secondary environments exclusively. In 1998, I was appointed Executive Editor of the Journal by Mr. Raymond Fox, President of the Society for Applied Learning Technology. To view my editorials and learn more about my activities, visit my home page (http://www.scis.nova.edu/~abramson). Much of the editorial was composed on July 1, 2009, the day that I completed the two new syllabi for the courses to begin on August 24, 2009. Completed is a word with questionable value in the age of electronic publishing because nothing is ever final. I used the term cautiously to mean that they were posted on my home page along with a third (revised) syllabus, without making any additional changes. All documents have been through countless reviews and revisions; the time to stop is when they do not appear to be becoming more clear or comprehensive and seem to say what needs to be said.
