Abstract
The purpose of this applied research project was to develop a quality graduate course entitled Education 525, Educational Trends and Issues, that would meet the needs of classroom teachers in southern West Virginia. The project also included the development of an implementation plan and an evaluation plan for Education 525.
The applied dissertation was guided by four research questions: (a) What does the literature indicate about educational trends and issues? (b) What are the main components of Educational Trends and Issues as a course at Concord College? (c) What is an implementation plan for Educational Trends and Issues as a course at Concord College? (d) What is an evaluation plan for Educational Trends and Issues as a course at Concord College?
The methodologies utilized during this research project were the development problem-solving methodology and the evaluation methodology. The procedures followed during the completion of this project included the following: (a) a thorough and extensive review of literature, (b) the formative and summative committee guided the researcher through the completion of the project, (c) data collection and analysis, and (d) validation of the final product by the summative committee.
The project resulted in the development of a graduate course entitled Educational Trends and Issues. The final project also included an implementation plan and an evaluation plan.
