Abstract
In this presentation, we will focus on the methodological literature from 1995 to 2014 specific to discussions of validity in qualitative research. Specifically, we will explore the varied discourses that have historically framed and positioned validity in qualitative research practices, and attend to how validity has been constructed as at once a ‘set of methods’ and an epistemological orientation. We will conclude by highlighting the implications for qualitative researchers.
