Abstract/Excerpt

In this paper the term `business forecasting' is defined and the role of time series and casual modelling in the preparation of business forecasts is examined. The problems associated with forecasting in the South African context are examined and case studies are used to reveal the very wide spectrum of sophistication employed in that country.
