Abstract
This paper aims to broaden the study of managerial agency in the formation of big corporations' strategy in emerging countries. The authors analyze a research in Brazil and challenges faced. Three dimensions emerged as fundamental: (a) the nature of knowledge on agency; (b) the researcher's approach regarding the phenomena and research subjects; (c) the acknowledgment, collection and handling of agency's data. Ultimately, a realist insistence is presented to deal with codetermination of agency.
