Abstract
The paper considers notions of reciprocity (Lather, 1986) and dialogical data generation (Carspecken & Apple, 1992) within qualitative research. The paper draws on methods from a case study and a participatory action research (PAR) project, both on educational equity. How might reciprocity facilitate catalytic validity? The paper traces analytical frames situating individual agency within structural and historical conditions (Weis & Fine, 2012) as contributing to critical engagement.
