On Deformations That Improve the Shape of a Surface
Description
This talk provides an introduction to geometric flows in Euclidean spaces, which improve the shape of a closed-surface modulo scaling. Miao will explain how these flows can be used to establish various isoperimetric-type inequalities by identifying certain monotone quantities along these flows.
Date of Event
April 24, 2014 12 - 1:00 PM
Location
Mailman-Hollywood Building Second Floor Auditorium, 3301 College Ave., Fort Lauderdale (main campus)
