Abstract
The purpose of this evidence-based practice study was to educate advanced nurse practitioner students (APRN) on smoking information and techniques to assist clients with quitting smoking in the primary care setting. The research question was: Will the education program based on the Rx for Change curriculum increase APRN students’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in providing tobacco cessation training? As a result of the education program on tobacco cessation the following outcomes were met: a) APRN students demonstrated a perceived increase in knowledge and skills related to tobacco cessation education and b) APRN students demonstrated a perceived increase in confidence to provide tobacco cessation education to clients.
