During my first semester of medical school, I faced significant academic challenges. There was a tremendous learning curve and I had to quickly adjust to the overwhelming amount of information to memorize. The most important recommendation I have for students is to challenge themselves with difficult courses and professors who have high expectations. The resources at NSU are all there, but it is up to you to take advantage! The small classroom setting provides a great opportunity for legitimate teacher-student relationships that can lead to things such as research projects, conference presentations, and academic internships that help differentiate you from the rest of the applicants. They are your ultimate resources, and there is no doubt in my mind that without them, I would not be where I am today.
